DHL · Harker Heights, Texas
DHL Shipping from Harker Heights, Texas
For family and friends overseas at ordinary civilian addresses. Military addresses are a different route entirely, and worth not confusing.
Can I use DHL to send a package overseas from Harker Heights?
Yes, for ordinary international addresses — at Pack N Mail in Temple, roughly twenty-five to thirty minutes east on US-190, with the customs declaration completed at the counter. One important distinction: DHL does not deliver to APO, FPO or DPO addresses. Military mail goes through USPS exclusively, whatever service you would prefer.

Two different overseas routes
A base address and a civilian address are not the same shipment.
This trips people up regularly, and the consequences are wasted time rather than wasted money. A package addressed to a unit and box number at an APO or FPO travels through the military postal system, and only USPS can put it there. No express carrier is an option at any price.
A package to a civilian address overseas — family in another country, a friend posted abroad living off-base, an ordinary residential address anywhere in the world — is a standard international shipment, and that is where DHL is strong. Customs handling is part of the core service and the routing to many destinations is direct.
If you are sending to both, they are simply two separate shipments with two separate processes. Both can be done in the same visit; they just cannot be done the same way.

- Civilian overseas addresses suit DHLDirect routing and customs built into the service.

Compared before it leaves
DHL is one of four carriers at the counter. For international civilian addresses it is the usual starting point; for anything going to a base it does not apply at all. DHL is international only here — there is no domestic DHL service at this counter.
Express international and postal international are different products at very different prices; both get quoted.
